Saving Raptors. Sustaining the Carpathians.

The Problem
Across Romania, birds of prey face growing threats from habitat loss, poisoning, electrocution, and declining prey populations. Injured raptors often have nowhere to go for proper medical care, and many species lack safe habitats, monitoring, or structured reintroduction programs.
At the same time, local communities and young people have few opportunities to learn about wildlife, and traditional falconry — an important cultural heritage — is slowly disappearing.

The Solution
Altitudine Carpatica will be the first dedicated raptor conservation center in the region, bringing together wildlife protection, rehabilitation, scientific research, education, community involvement, and the preservation of falconry heritage under one unified mission.
Through conservation programs, habitat improvement, public engagement, and hands-on learning opportunities, the project aims to restore raptor populations, strengthen cultural identity, and protect these iconic birds for future generations.
Endagered Species
Romania is home to several endangered species of birds of prey, including the Eastern Imperial Eagle and the Saker Falcon. These majestic birds face threats from habitat loss, illegal hunting, and environmental changes. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their habitats and raise awareness about their plight. It is crucial to support these initiatives to ensure the survival of these magnificent raptors for future generations.
